Modernization of County Road 172: A Successful Project Carried Out by FRASINUL SRL
In Bistrita-Nasaud County, County Road 172, which connects the localities of Cociu, Mocod, and Zagra, underwent an extensive modernization process carried out professionally by FRASINUL SRL, in collaboration with partners Hydrostroy AD and Somes-Top-Grup SRL.
The project focused on the rehabilitation and modernization of a stretch of approximately 24 kilometers, with a total work value exceeding 80 million lei. It was funded through European funds under the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Program, with an execution period of 16 months, covering all necessary stages—from design to project completion.
An exceptional innovative element of the project was the application of an asphalt wearing layer made from bitumen modified with recycled rubber polymers, a first in Romania. This technology provides up to 50% increased road durability compared to conventional solutions and reduces maintenance costs by 30%. Additionally, the material improves road safety by shortening braking distances by 5-10%.
Besides the complete asphalt paving of the roadway, the works included the restoration of shoulders, cleaning of ditches, and application of road markings—all contributing to enhanced comfort and safety for residents and visitors.
The modernization of County Road 172 represents a major investment in the road infrastructure of Bistrita-Nasaud County, facilitating access and economic development for the served communities.
